Meet the Speakers

Dr Roger Henderson

Dr Roger Henderson qualified as a doctor from St Bartholomew's Hospital, London in 1985, and as a general practitioner in 1990.

He entered the media world in 1995, and within 2 years was the medical columnist for the Sunday Times. He is one of the UKs most respected health broadcasters and writes for a number of national publications, and is the global content creator for Healthwords – one of the world’s first conversational AI tools focused solely on providing healthcare advice and self-care products in the UK. He is also a presenter for the GP education site GP Notebook, and appears regularly on the television, radio and online.

He is a senior GP, most recently as the head of a 15,000-patient general practice where he was also a GP trainer, running his large main surgery and two branch surgeries including a University campus. He now works as a sessional GP, and is a judge for the annual UK 2023 General Practice awards.

He has written and given presentations at multiple UK and global health conferences over the last 25 years, and remains involved with speaking at and chairing many online talks and presentations.

Esteban Jódar Gimeno is Head of the Endocrinology Department at University Hospitals Quiron Salud Madrid (attending three hospitals: Pozuelo, San José and Ruber Juan Bravo/San Camilo and two outpatient facilities: Tres Cantos and Valdebebas). At present, he is Full Professor of Endocrinology at the European University of Madrid.

He has served as coordinator of the Working Group on Osteoporosis of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SEEN) and served as vice-president of the Regional Society of Endocrinology and in the Board of the Spanish Society of Bone and Mineral Research (SEIOMM). Currently is member of the group Rare Bone Diseases and Covid19 of the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) and member of the Study Groups of Diabetes and Osteoporosis of the SEEN.

He is the author of more than 200 originals in different Journals -more than 100 in international peer-reviewed journals- more than 50 chapters in different books and more than 200 abstracts with an h-index of 34 and more than 17,500 citations. He is also participating in several continuous education programs as Novocampus, Wikiporosis or Annual Reviews of Congresses (in Osteoporosis, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Risk) and he is frequently invited to give lectures (more than 30 a year) in Spain other countries on diabetes, obesity, and metabolic bone diseases. He has been included in the “top 100” physicians in the Spanish Forbes Ranking in the last 5 years.

He has been investigator since 1995 in the clinical development of drugs for metabolic diseases including osteoporosis, hyperlipidaemia, hypertension, obesity and diabetes with important contributions in the field of GLP-1 receptor agonists, SGLT2 inhibitors and new insulins. His actual research areas of interest are proteomics of cardiovascular and osteoporosis markers in diabetics, metabolic bone diseases in gut diseases, management of change in habits in obesity, osteoporosis risk assessment & the study of detoxification ROS systems.
