Meet the Speakers
Dr Chan currently works at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Trusts and leads in Axial SpA services working with National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society’s (NASS) Aspiring to Excellence program in reducing the diagnostic delay in Axial Spa. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa), worked as a clinical research fellow in melorrheostosis and skeletal dysplasia at the Botnar Research Centre – Oxford University (UK) and completed her clinical training in rheumatology in Liverpool (UK). She is also keen to support and optimize primary and secondary fracture prevention pathways of care to ensure healthy ageing.
Dr Muhammad Nisar completed dual speciality training in the East of England, and was subsequently appointed Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHSFT, where he is currently Director of Research and Development. He is an elected clinical entrepreneur and member of the British Society of Rheumatology (BSR) Heberden committee.
He is the lead clinician for an award winning early arthritis service, as well as metabolic bone health delivery, research on advanced therapies and inflammatory arthritis associated lung diseases MDT service. Dr Nisar has been involved in more than 80 clinical trials utilising advanced therapies for autoimmune and skeletal conditions. He has won several awards from prestigious bodies including the NHS, RCP and BSR. His other main interests include early inflammatory arthritis including ultrasound use and crystal arthritides.
