Meet the Speakers
Dr Liew is a Consultant Paediatric Neuropsychiatrist in the tertiary paediatric neurodevelopmental service at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital and in the paediatric liaison mental health service (National and Specialist CAMHS) at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. His clinical expertise and academic interests are in neurodevelopmental conditions (intellectual disabilities, autism, ADHD, tics), mental health conditions co-occurring with neurological conditions (epilepsy, neuroinflammatory conditions, brain injury) and complex psychopharmacology (in children with neurological and cardiac conditions).
Ashley trained previously in Paediatrics and has postgraduate qualifications in Clinical Neuropsychiatry and Digital Health Leadership. He is an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Warwick and Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham. Ashley is Joint Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Smith-Magenis Syndrome Foundation and has held leadership and advisory positions at the Royal College of Psychiatrists, NICE, Health Education England, and NHS England.
Dr O’Leary is a highly experienced Consultant Community Paediatrician with over 17 years of dedicated service in the field of child health. He is currently based in Bromley, where he leads the local autism and ADHD services, overseeing multidisciplinary teams involved in the assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management of children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions.
Dr O’Leary has a strong interest in service development and has been instrumental in shaping pathways of care for children with complex needs. His leadership has contributed to improved integration between health, education, and social care services within the borough. In addition to his clinical leadership, he has contributed to several research initiatives in Bromley, with a particular focus on early diagnosis and intervention in neurodevelopmental disorders.
He is passionate about education and regularly delivers teaching sessions to both undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees, sharing his expertise in community paediatrics, safeguarding, and developmental paediatrics.
Dr O’Leary also holds the role of Designated Doctor for Child Deaths in Bromley, a position that involves overseeing child death review processes, contributing to safeguarding strategies, and supporting learning and improvement in practice.
